High quality teachers and teacher retention are two goals for the Arcola School District. The district is again proud to have a retention rate of over 90%!

You can see the amazing qualifications below for the teachers we have been lucky to employ for next year.

The Arcola School District is excited to welcome new staff members for the 2019-2020 school year. The following provides some information about our new staff:

Junior High/High School

Arcola welcomes Emily Henderson as the new 5-12 Band and HS Choir teacher. Emily is a recent graduate of Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL. She grew up in Herscher, Illinois where she was very active in both band and chorus. Emily indicated that she loves the small town feel of Arcola and could immediately see the community support for the fine arts programs here in Arcola. We welcome Emily to the land of the Purple Riders!

Arcola welcomes Elizabeth Robison as new 7th Grade English Teacher. Elizabeth is a veteran teacher that comes to Arcola from the Windsor School District. Elizabeth will primarily be teaching junior high English but she is also certified to teach high school English and will occasionally be teaching a high school class as well. Elizabeth will be teaching right down the hallway from her sister-in-law Carrie Schutzbach! Welcome to Arcola, Elizabeth.

Elementary School

Arcola welcomes Rebecca Beachy at a new PreSchool Teacher! Rebecca is a recent graduate of Illinois State University and completed her student teaching in Tremont Grade School in Tremont, Illinois. She is dual certified in both early childhood and early childhood special education, which makes her a very valuable commodity! Rebecca grew up in Sullivan and currently resides in Arthur, which will make for a short commute to school. We are very happy to have Rebecca in Arcola.

Arcola welcomes Lauren Hamilton as new 6th Grade Classroom Teacher! Lauren comes to Arcola as a first year teacher after attending Illinois State University and student teaching in the Leroy School District. Lauren is a high school graduate of Tolono High School in Tolono, Illinois so she knows the area well. She is also no stranger to the teaching and coaching profession as her dad is a teacher and long-time head football coach at Tolono. Arcola’s current head football coach, Nick Lindsey served on his staff for several years. We are very excited that Lauren has chosen to share her talents with our students here in Arcola!

Arcola welcomes Jessica Emanuel as new 6th Grade Classroom Teacher! Jessica has been teaching in elementary classrooms for three years in the Ridgeview School District located in Colfax Illinois. She is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN. Jessica is moving into the Arcola area as her husband was recently named the head track coach at Eastern Illinois University. We are very excited to report that Jessica has some experience teaching with some components of the elementary school Fountas and Pinnel reading program, which will allow her to fit in perfect at AES!

Arcola welcomes Jenny White as new 4th Grade Classroom Teacher! Jenny has been teaching in the Charleston School District since 2008 as both a classroom and reading intervention teacher. She brings a total of twelve years of teaching experience and a Master’s Degree from Eastern Illinois University. Her extensive experience in teaching reading makes her a perfect fit for the Arcola Elementary Staff! We are very excited that Jenny has chosen to bring her experience to Arcola Elementary!

Arcola welcomes Megan Clark as new Elementary Student Support Position! Megan comes to us from a southern Illinois school district where she most recently was a middle school principal. Previous to that, she taught science for several years. Mrs. Clark will be helping our elementary school implement the social and emotional learning standards. She will be helping our students to acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make good decisions. We are excited to have Mrs. Clark in Arcola!

Arcola welcomes Brittany O’Hara as new Bilingual Teacher! Brittany actually was a permanent substitute in the Arcola Preschool Program last year starting in January. She graduated from Illinois State University in December, 2018. Brittany brings a wealth of special certifications to the district. She is certified to teach English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education, Elementary Classrooms and Preschool Classrooms. If she were a major league baseball player, she would be called a 5-Tool Player! She will spend most of her day teaching Bilingual Education to students in Grades preschool through third grade. We are very excited that Brittany has chosen to bring all her specialties to Arcola!
