The Arcola School District recently went through a year long planning process to set a new school district vision statement to also set five-year district strategic objectives/goals. At the school board meeting on September 11, 2019; the school board approved the strategic objectives. The Board went through the following process in establishing the district objectives/goals:
Step 1: Review of School District Vision Statement (goals/objectives must be aligned to the vision)
Step 2: Review and Analysis of Available Data (Demographic, Student Achievement, Survey/Perception Data from All Stakeholder Group)
Step 3: Development of District Strategic Challenges (the items that should be addressed when planning for improvement) and Strategic Advantages (the items that should be built upon when planning)
The following were determined to be the district Strategic Challenges and Advantages
Step 4: Selection of Actual Objectives/Goals and Setting of Measurable Targets for Improvement - the targets is the level of performance that is to be achieved by the end of the 2021-2022 school year. The goals are also aligned to the strategic challenges and advantages identified above.
Step 1 - The school district staff will now develop a district improvement plan designed to achieve the overall strategic goals. To do this, there will be annual achievement targets aligned to the 2021-2022 targets and improvement strategies that will be used to achieve the target. Below is the 2019-2020 District Improvement Plan:
Step 2 - Both the elementary school and junior high/high school will then review building specific data, the district improvement plan, and then establish their building level targets and improvement strategies for 2018-2019. That is currently in process and will shared here when completed
Step 3: On-Going Review of Implementation during the Year
Step 4: Evaluation of Performance on 2019-2020 Targets
