As most of you have probably heard by now, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker announced that remote learning in Illinois will be extended through the end of the 2019-20 school year.

Although in-person learning has been suspended for the remainder of the year, I assure you our entire staff remains committed to learning and engaging with all students through remote learning. We are very proud to announce that we are currently experiencing daily attendance of around 95% in Grades K-12. That is absolutely amazing and a credit to our staff, students and families. We will continue to evolve with remote learning to make the experience better and better for our students.

Like you, I am saddened that we will not be able to reconvene in person this school year.

However, we have shown over the past few weeks that our school community can accomplish a lot by working together. I know this is not the school year that any of us imagined, but I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we have dealt with this unprecedented situation together.

Today’s announcement will result in significant and multiple scheduling changes in our district. As this announcement was just made by Governor Pritzker this afternoon, it will take us a few days to sort out many of those details. We will communicate with everyone once we know those details.

In addition, we plan to continue providing meal service through the end of this school year. If you need added to our list, please contact Diane Good at dgood@arcolaschools.com.
