Dear Families,
We have been notified from the Douglas County Public Health Department of 5 additional positive COVID cases this morning. We have also been informed of many, many positive cases among our families and community members. This had led to a significant increase in the number of quarantined students and staff. As a result, we have made the decision to move to full remote learning for the next two weeks. Remote learning will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, October 20 and go through Friday, October 30.
The junior high and high school students will continue on the 2:00 pm schedule with all students remoting in for each class. All elementary families will receive direct communication from their classroom teacher(s). The elementary students remote learning situation will be dependent on the grade level but will be a balance of online, direct (live) instruction along with videos and assignments being pushed out to the families on either SeeSaw or Google Classroom.
There will be a drive-through lunch/breakfast pick-up starting Tuesday, October 20 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm daily at the cafeteria entrance. Families will need to complete this google form to sign up for daily meal pick up. On Tuesday, lunch and the following day’s breakfast will be provided for each person signing up for pick-up. Also, the district has created a technology support form. If you are experiencing any technology problems with remote learning, you can complete this form and will receive quick support from the school. We understand that moving to full remote learning will cause unique challenges for many of our families and students. But, our pledge has been that we will only continue to operate in person learning if we feel can do so safely without adding to the spread of the virus. With the current outbreak of cases in our school community and logistical concerns that come with that outbreak, we feel remote learning is best for our school community.
We hope this is a short term situation that can be rectified if we all work together to stop the spread of the disease in the community. While COVID cases are spiking in the area, please reconsider attending social events where multiple individuals may be congregating in groups without maintaining social distancing or without wearing masks.

También se nos ha informado de muchos, muchos casos positivos entre nuestras familias y miembros de la comunidad. Esto ha llevado a un aumento significativo en el número de estudiantes y personal en cuarentena. Entendemos que pasar al aprendizaje remoto completo generará desafíos únicos para muchas de nuestras familias y estudiantes. Pero nuestro compromiso ha sido que solo continuaremos operando en persona si creemos que podemos hacerlo de manera segura sin aumentar la propagación del virus. Con el brote actual de casos en nuestra comunidad escolar y las preocupaciones logísticas que vienen con ese brote, creemos que el aprendizaje remoto es lo mejor para nuestra comunidad escolar en este momento.
Esperamos que esta sea una situación a corto plazo que pueda corregirse si todos trabajamos juntos para detener la propagación de la enfermedad en la comunidad. Mientras los casos de COVID están aumentando en el área, reconsidere la posibilidad de asistir a eventos sociales en los que varias personas pueden estar congregándose en grupos sin mantener el distanciamiento social o sin usar máscaras.
