https://www.isac.org/pd/fafsa-mandate.html

Seniors! Lifetouch will be here to take your portraits for the graduating class composite board that hangs in the hallway.
Tuesday, 12/15, 10am-noon
Remote learners: Email Mrs. Kessler (akessler@arcolaschools.com) to arrange a time 10am-noon to come in.
Midterm graduates: This will be the only chance for you to get your portrait taken for the composite board.

Principal Update: As Mrs. Sigrist is getting ready to start her 5th round of chemo, we thought it would be appropriate to give you a quick update. Yes, she is still working. She always looks forward to greeting the students in the mornings. So far, Mrs. Sigrist is handling the chemo pretty well except for some nauseousness. Unfortunately, she did experience a minor setback with her most recent chemo because her platelet count was low. She knew that pushing her appointment back would cause her to feel fatigue, and nauseous during Thanksgiving and that was upsetting. Even then, she continued to show up to work and come in with a positive attitude. She has another pet scan coming up that will show how effective chemo has been so far. We will keep you informed on her progress. Thank you to everyone who continues to pray and show their support. We would like to ask everyone who contributed towards the Sigrist Strong movement to show their support by wearing their shirt/mask this Friday, December 4th. Snap a picture and share it with us on our Facebook page @ Arcola Jr. Sr. High School. You can also use #sigriststrong.

Parents: It is already that time of year! This week Mrs. Phillips will be going into classrooms providing information on course registration for the 2021-2022 school year. Please talk to your children about their plans. The week after Thanksgiving break, the Guidance crew will be holding individual meetings to help each student successfully register for their classes.
Please note: Parents of current 8th graders, your students will register at a later date.
If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Phillips.

Today , we proudly honor, with gratitude, all of the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.

Dear Arcola Jr./Sr. High students, parents and community members,
As many of you already know our principal Lisa Sigrist has recently been diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called Neuroendocrine cancer. Unfortunately, the cancer has also spread to her liver and lungs. After several weeks and many appointments, she will be starting very aggressive chemo treatments.
Mrs. Sigrist is in overall good health and continues to stay positive. She is a fighter and with the support and prayers of our community we are confident that she will overcome this. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Today would have been our first football game of the season. Things are a little different this year for our players, coaches, and fans. Tony isn't lining the field, the money boxes aren't ready, and the press box is closed. For the first time in 27 years, Coach Lindsey isn't packing his Friday night football bag. We are very proud of our players and coaches who have put in all the work they have so far.
On a scale of 1-10 how much do you miss seeing the Purple Riders on the field?

Just a little reminder that if you have not purchased iPad insurance for your Jr. Sr. High Student, the deadline is September 11th.

Hugs and prayers go out to her family from the entire staff and faculty at the Arcola School District.

Did you know there is a TeacherEase app that can keep parents and students informed on grades and attendance. Recently TeacherEase updated their app to include push notifications. Please read the message below from TeacherEase.
We’ve recently been working on mobile apps. In our latest release, we upgraded the iOS TeacherEase parent/student app to receive notifications when events occur in the system (grade is entered, student is marked absent, announcement is sent, etc). Users stay updated without needing to login. To receive notifications, install the TeacherEase app and enable notifications. This release builds upon recent updates allowing the mobile app to stay logged into TeacherEase. After initial login, users can access the app with pin, fingerprint, and/or faceid authentication. If you’re still using Safari on iOS, we’d suggest installing the app -- it’s much more convenient. Link to the app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/teacherease-parents-students/id1232341133

Arcola Jr. Sr. High School showing our support for Sullivan Schools. #onetribe #wearblue
https://youtu.be/98ac-MpdZB8

In light of Friday’s tragedy, the Sullivan School District students, staff, and community members will dress in blue in honor of the elementary student, Tyson Mendoza, who lost his life in the bus accident. Blue was Tyson’s favorite color.
The Arcola School District will wear blue on Monday as well, as a way to show our support.
It takes a village and then some to help heal after such a tragic event. Please, continue to keep everyone involved in your thoughts and join us and other communities by also wearing blue. 💙

The end of the quarter will be here before we know it! Students, here are some things to keep in mind to earn the privilege of attending the PBIS quarterly celebration:
- Attendance rate must be 92% or higher
-No unexcused absences for the quarter
-3 or less tardies for the quarter
-1 or less OFFICE discipline referral for the quarter
-No discipline resulting in late stays, ISS or OSS for the quarter
-No failing grades for the quarter
-Minimum missing assignments for the quarter
You may have the opportunity to earn back the privilege of attending the celebration by completing an intervention plan to improve behavior. See Mrs. Sigrist or Coach Lindsey with any questions.

Students who are going to the Construction Trades Expo Thursday, remember: bring money for lunch, wear closed-toed shoes that stay on your feet, and have your legs covered (no shorts, jeans with holes, etc).

We received this message from the York family that they asked us to post to our page. #RidersUnite
Arcola High School Staff,
Nick Lindsey and the Arcola Football Team
Thank you for the kindness and generosity you have shown John York and our Family! We are so grateful and feel so blessed to have such a wonderful support system and friends in this community!
Sincerely,
John York and Family

Scott's Law – If It's Flashing Move Over
Driver Education Instructors,
So far in 2019, 14 Illinois State Troopers have been hit by motorists while stopped on the side of the road, compared to eight incidents in calendar year 2018. The Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois State Police are working together to ensure all teen drivers, their parents, and families have the information they need to protect those who protect us. Scott's Law, also known as the Move Over Law, was named after Lieutenant Scott Gillen of the Chicago Fire Department who was struck and killed by an intoxicated driver while assisting at a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Scott's Law mandates that upon approaching any stationary vehicle with flashing emergency lights, including commercial trucks and cars, all approaching vehicles shall:
• reduce speed,
• change lanes if possible; and
• proceed with caution.

Reminder #2 for Seniors & Parents: If you have received any outside scholarships that you would included as part of Honors Night, please email the information to Mrs. Mendez at amendez@arcolaschools.com.
