Honoring Our Legacy: A New Visual Experience at Arcola High School

I am thrilled to announce the completion of a significant transformation within the main hallway of Arcola High School. If you visit the building today, you will find more than just a thoroughfare for students; you will walk through a visual timeline of our community’s history.

We have recently installed an extensive new mural design that covers several walls of the main corridor, seamlessly integrating with our existing trophy cases. This project was driven by a singular, powerful theme: “Embracing the future of Arcola Schools as we honor the past.”

The installation is centered around three pillars that define the spirit of our district: Tradition, Pride, and Excellence.

As you walk the hall, you will see these words brought to life through a massive collage of imagery representing years of accomplishment. The design features photographs spanning generations, highlighting our rich history in both academics and extra-curricular activities. From the distinct “Purple Riders” branding to vintage photos of varsity squads, marching bands, and graduating classes from as far back as the 1920s, the walls now tell the story of those who paved the way for our current students.

This project is more than just decoration; it is an educational tool and a source of inspiration. It serves as a daily reminder to our current student body that they are part of a larger legacy. By combining these historic images with modern design elements and digital displays, we are physically manifesting our commitment to building a bright future on the foundation of our storied past.

I invite our alumni, parents, and community members to stop by and view this tribute to the Arcola School District. It is a testament to where we have been, and a signpost for where we are going.

A Huge Thank You to the Arcola Alumni Association for assisting with the funding of the project!

Go Purple Riders!
