Dear Families,
As I usually do, I want to start out by thanking our families for the amazing support you have given the school and your children this semester. It is such a challenging time for everyone.
The Next Few Weeks
As you know, our current plan over the next few weeks is to continue with our blended learning model where we have most of our students attending school in person and some attending remotely.
But, I do want to caution you that if we were to start to see a large spike in cases due to traveling and gatherings over Thanksgiving weekend, we may need to make the decision to move to remote learning. We probably would not see those increases until late this week and early next week. I know most of you have alternative plans set up in case this situation would occur but I wanted you to know that it is possible we could end up going to full remote instruction the week prior to winter break, December 14 – 18. If that occurs, we will also then go to remote the week following winter break on January 4-8. We would then be back to in person instruction on Monday, January 11.
But as of right now, nothing has changed with the schedule. I just wanted to let you know of that possibility so you can be planning ahead just in case.
Food Service Over Break
The Arcola School District will be offering food service over winter break for students. The district plans to deliver meals to families on Monday, December 21 and then again on Monday, December 28. Each week will provide breakfast and lunch meals for the children for the week. Milk will be provided in either ½ or full gallon servings. The district will deliver either at 10 am or 3 pm on those two days. Someone must be home to receive the delivery. If you sign up for lunch, we will also have you indicate your preferred delivery time.

Queridas familias,
Como suelo hacer, quiero comenzar agradeciendo a nuestras familias por el increíble apoyo que les han brindado a la escuela y a sus hijos este semestre. Es un momento tan desafiante para todos.
Las próximas semanas
Nuestro plan actual es continuar con nuestro modelo de aprendizaje combinado, donde la mayoría de nuestros estudiantes asisten a la escuela en persona y algunos asisten de forma remota.
Pero, quiero advertirle que si comenzamos a ver un gran aumento en los casos debido a viajes y reuniones durante el fin de semana de Acción de Gracias, es posible que debamos tomar la decisión de pasar al aprendizaje remoto. Probablemente no veremos esos aumentos hasta finales de esta semana y principios de la próxima. Sé que la mayoría de ustedes tiene planes alternativos configurados en caso de que ocurra esta situación, pero quería que supieran que es posible que terminemos yendo a la instrucción remota completa la semana antes de las vacaciones de invierno, del 14 al 18 de diciembre. Si eso ocurre , también iremos al aprendizaje remoto la semana después de las vacaciones de invierno del 4 al 8 de enero. Luego regresaremos a la instrucción en persona el lunes, 11 de enero.
Pero a partir de ahora, nada ha cambiado con el horario. Solo quería informarle de esa posibilidad para que pueda planificar con anticipación por si acaso.
Servicio de comida durante las vacaciones
El Distrito Escolar de Arcola ofrecerá servicio de comida a los estudiantes durante las vacaciones de invierno. El distrito planea entregar comidas a las familias el lunes, 21 de diciembre y luego nuevamente el lunes, 28 de diciembre. Cada semana proporcionará desayunos y almuerzos para los niños para la semana. La leche se proporcionará en porciones de ½ galón o en porciones completas. El distrito entregará las comidas ya sea a las 10 am o 3 pm en esos dos días. Alguien debe estar en casa para recibir la entrega. Si se inscribe para el almuerzo, también le pediremos que indique su hora de entrega preferida.
