On Feb 22,
Some of the Arcola teachers, Special Olympic athletes and a few students went to Effingham Lake Sara for the annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge. Each member needed to raise at least $100 to participate. The Plunge team dressed in orange while the three officers were in their police clothes. The Arcola Arctic Angels (plunge name) raised well over $4297 for Special Olympics. We could not have done this without the help of friends, family and co-workers who support the athletes of Special Olympics. Those who raised their money were: Mrs Coats, Mrs. Cassidy, Mrs Kauffman, Mrs. Humphrey, Zella Bissey, athlete Kassidy Bissey, athlete Amy Irwin, Mykah Gomez, Mrs. Wagoner, Heather Poole, Sheriff Chaplin, Sheriff Deputy Adam Brazzell, SRO Smith, Emma Edwards, Bailey Good, Lauren Spainhour, athlete Alex Rogers-Butcher, athlete Joseline Gauna, Kalvin Brazzell, Lainey Brazzell, Dr Jackson (Tuscola), Shelby Brewer and Ms Beckie (Headrick). Mr Lugo made the awesome banner. The water temp was 33* and the dive team chipped out an inch or more of ice before we could get in the water.
