Arcola Purple Rider Events for May 1st:


The following students have completed the Illinois High School Association and
Special Olympics Leadership Certification Requirements and Excellence in
Pursuit of Personal Development. This is a learn at your own pace with
instruction by peer Youth Leaders from both the Special Olympics Youth
Activation Committee and the IHSA Student Activities Commission. The topics of
learning include: My Reason Why, Being an Inclusive Leader, Cognitive
Flexibility, Connecting with Others, Effective Communication, Goal Setting,
Networking, Presenting yourself in person and on paper, Problem Solving and
Teamwork.
Arcola Schools became Unified Champion Schools in 2018. The goal of a
Unified Champion School is:
“To activate youth to promote school communities where all young people are
agents in charge-fostering respect, dignity and advocacy for people with
cognitive disabilities by utilizing the programs and initiatives of Special Olympics.
There are three components-Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership, and
Whole School Engagement.”
The recipients of this certificate are: KayLee Hohlbauch, a Senior, Rilee Hendrix,
a Junior, and Alexander Hawn, a Freshman.


Prom Royalty met this morning for last minute instructions for coronation tomorrow. Lots of decorating happening today also. Prom is at the school tomorrow from 7:00-9:00 pm. Coronation will be help promptly at 7:00.





May 1st is Decision Day for Seniors, so today they were encouraged to wear a shirt from their future college or career. They each signed our Decision Day banner with their future plans and were treated to a delicious donut. Congrats to the Class of 2021, great things are ahead for all of you.
