
Day 3, part 2, USMC Educators Conference: We continued our tour of the education and career training facilities at Miramar; saw the flight line, including watching F15s, C130s, & an Osprey take-off, heard a small band ensemble perform & had panels with career Marines.





Because school secretaries can have fun too. Happy Administrative Professionals Day to our lovely secretaries at Arcola Elementary, Arcola Jr/Sr High, and Arcola Unit Office . Thank you for all you do!



Day 3 at the USMC Educator's Conference. Mrs. Jones & Miss Coombe have met some tremendous individuals in various stages of their military careers. We will bring back to AHS more knowledge about career & education opportunities, including tuition assistance & scholarships from trade programs to PhD programs.



Dual Credit Meeting - Tonight at 6:30 PM in the HS Library. Anyone interested in taking a dual credit class should come and bring their parents. The meeting should last no longer than 30 minutes


Day 2 at the 2019 USMC Educator's Conference. Mrs. Jones & Miss Coombe are still standing! We learned a lot about the recruiting process and the training program. Tomorrow, on to career opportunities and training at Miramar.

We wrapped up our college visit tour at the University of Illinois today. It's hard to believe these kids will be applying to college in just a few months! What a great group.

Mrs. Jones & Miss Coombe survived day 1 with the US Marines Corps! It was a travel day, but we will take the win. Now it's 6am, day 2, and we're off to start our day! Updates to come...




The baseball game vs Tri-County today has been cancelled due to the forecast. There will be practice after school.

The JH Track meet has been cancelled today due to the forecast. Both boys & girls will practice until 4:00pm.

Arcola Jr./Sr. High welcomes Nick Gore as the Douglas County Drug Awareness guest speaker. High School students from Tuscola, Villa Grove, ALAH, and Heritage joined our Arcola students this morning for an inspiring story about Mr. Gores life as a heroin addict and his road to recovery.

“From Dope to Hope “speaker Tim Ryan will be at Arcola on April 16th at the Nancy Stiff Gymnasium. We are excited to have Tim Ryan speak for our Douglas County students, staff, and community about his experience with drug addiction. He not only overcame it but is now working to help others. Tim’s mission has been to help one addict at a time transform their lives from dope to hope. There will be 3 separate times for the assembly on Tuesday, April, 16th. Arcola Special Olympics goes to Millikan where the athletes were recognized and allowed to run the bases after the game!
