Mason Headrick, a Young athlete of Special Olympics joined in the Torch Run in his own squad car! Mason will also be going to state this weekend !!


The Law Enforcement Torch Run came through Arcola. Mariela Tamez met the Coles County Law Enforcement team at the Coles/Douglas County Line, where she did the exchange! It was then brought to Unity Motors where the Arcola Special Olympics team took it to Casey's. I want to thank the Arcola PD and Fire departments for participating in the great event. We apologize for those who didn't get to see it, they came in an hour ahead of time. Athletes participating are Mariela Tamez, new comers Steven and Tyler Lamkin. We travel to state this weekend fore state games.





Arcola Jr. Sr. High school will once again offer its students the opportunity to purchase iPad insurance for the 2019-2020 school year. We highly encourage every student to purchase this insurance. Class of 2020: AHS is putting together a section of online dual credit English (ENG-101) through Parkland College. Cost for the class should not exceed $377, not including a textbook. Email Mrs. Mendez at amendez@arcolaschools.com if you're interested!

Congratulations to the HS Track & Field athletes who made All-Conference: 1600m run- Beau Edwards, 4x200m relay- Diego Perez, Ivan Franco, Pedro Gauna. Jordan Melton, 4x200m relay- Ellie Strader, Mae Gentry, Ale Mendoza, and Graciela Leal.

4x100 relay with a time of 44.2. Will be a few spots out of finals.

The Arcola School District is looking for full-time custodial work this summer. Hours will be 6:30 am – 2:30 pm Monday through Friday. Employment could turn into full-time afternoon shift (3 – 11 pm) once school starts if the individuals are interested (this is not required).

Big shout-out to the JH/HS students that are finishing the school year with zero tardies. Each student has received a certificate of achievement with a Subway coupon from Dean Lindsey. Way to go!
