Congratulations to Myles Roberts who has been named a Commended Student in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. Myles qualified and placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test(PSAT/NMSQT).

The HS students got a visit from the National Guard today. Thank you to Sargent First Class Fehrenbacher for taking the time to educate our students and talk about the opportunities the National Guard offers.

Juniors had the opportunity to attend the Lake Land Career Day this morning. They selected individual career sessions and participated in the College fair.

Seniors: The County Clerk's office is seeking student workers for the Primary Election held on Tuesday, November 6th. Students who participate in the program will be required to attend a training session that will be held on Friday, October 26th at 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the Tuscola Outlet Mall.
-Students must be available to serve ALL day on November 6th 5:00 a.m - 8:30 p.m.
-Please refer to the email sent by Mrs. Johns for qualifications and the application.

Body Electric and Sarah Bush Lincoln are sponsoring CYBERGUIDE FOR PARENTS WITH DETECTIVE RICHARD WISTOCKI on Wednesday, November 7th from 6 to 8 pm in the Charleston High School Auditorium. This FREE event will include topics such as cyber-bullying, online gaming dangers, social media dangers, phone applications, and file & video sharing. The presenter, Richard Wistocki, is a Cyber Crimes Detective with 30+ years of experience.

High School: The US Army will be visiting during lunchtime Tuesday (10/2) inside the high school entrance, and the US Marines will be here during lunchtime Wednesday (10/3) in the same spot.

College-Bound Seniors: the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens on Monday October 1! Make your FSA ID ahead of time at fsaid.ed.gov. See the counseling office with questions.

Arcola School District is seeking candidates for the position of Evening Custodian Supervisor. This person will work from 2:30 – 11:00 pm Monday through Friday. Salary will be based on experience and qualifications but salary is expected to be around $15 an hour. Position also offers health insurance benefits; paid vacation, holidays and sick time; and IMRF Retirement program, which includes a company match.
