Each year, Arcola OAV creates an action project to give back to their school and community. This year, the students have decided to host a “senior” prom for the senior citizens in Arcola. The intended goal of the project is to encourage and develop friendships between Arcola students and senior citizens. This event will also kick of a summer of OAV involvement at Carriage Crossing, as the OAV members plan to visit the facility weekly to play games, participate in other activities, or just spend time talking with Carriage Crossing residents.
This "senior" prom event will be held at Carriage Crossing on Saturday, April 28 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m and will be open to the public as well. Community members are invited to attend to enjoy a fun time of music, refreshments, and good company of both seniors and students. The prom's theme is "Past Meets Present."
The Douglas County CEO students will be showcasing the businesses they opened this year by selling their products and services. Come and support these 12 new businesses in Douglas County. Jr. High Science classes complete an Earth Day activity by meeting with Elementary classes and talking and teaching them about Earth Day.
Dear Arcola School Community, there was a rumor going around tonight about a potential school shooting tomorrow at school. The district has been working with the Arcola Police Department investigating the situation. There is no creditable information that has led to any concern about student safety tomorrow. Again, there is NO Creditable Threat. But as a precaution we will have a police presence at school tomorrow.
Congratulations to our 2018 Prom Court! Quinten Helmuth, Martin Rund, Sam Crane, Mason Gentry, Carlos Gonzalez, Conner Strader, Sydnee Shafer, Yessi Ramirez, Angela Rojas, Verania Garza, Quincy Miller, and Molly Dawson.
Congrats to Logan H., Emma W., and Elizabeth S. for bringing home silver medals at the FCCLA State Conference.
